Synopsis
A shuttlecraft carrying Gwyn travels through space. The Starfleet officer who pilots it, ribs Gwyn for reading the First Contact protocols so many times. They arrive at Solum and the officer promises Gwyn she can call if she needs to. Gwyn beams down to Solum, which is currently a breathtaking civilization. A crowd is surprised at Gwyn’s arrival. She greets them in their shared language. She says she has traveled there from far away on behalf of the Federation. But she’s immediately apprehended by guards and brought into an official chamber. She’s put before two Elders of Solum. Gwyn shares the Federation’s mission and goals. She says the Vau N’akat can share their gifts with the universe. Furthermore, Gwyn says they can share their society’s gifts with the universe.
But Asencia reveals her presence. She’s already warned the Elders of extraterrestrial life. Asencia says Gwyn was a spy she predicted would come then decries Gwyn as an imposter. Asencia says Gwyn will bring ruin to Solum. She has holographic proof of this future. And, Asencia’s younger self is present, lending credence to her story. Gwyn has no such corroborating doppelganger. They move to apprehend her but she escapes. She’s pursued through the streets of Solum. When she attempts to contact the shuttle, the shuttle is destroyed.
Elsewhere aboard the USS Voyager-A, Kathryn Janeway records an Admiral’s Log for Stardate 61859.6. The ship has arrived at the time rift in the Beta Quadrant. It leads to a reality 52 years in the future. She believes Chakotay is stranded on the other side. Tysess reports that a probe they sent into the rift was destroyed. The Doctor suspects they’ll need better tech to survive the trip. Janeway orders them to keep trying.
Elsewhere, Dal R’El wonders why Janeway is lying about the mission. Zero says technically she was omitting facts. Rok-Tahk is an unwilling accomplice. Jankom Pog is with them, too. But as they walk through the halls they’re confronted by Maj’el. They deny anything’s going on. Zero senses Janeway’s concealing a lot of information from them. Dal enters the Jeffries Tubes, determined to learn more. On the bridge, an energy fluctuation is detected. Dal eavesdrops through a vent from above and a glowing warp appears. Noum reports there are no life signs, but it does hail them.
Janeway accepts the communication. It’s a distorted voice warning, “You cannot go.” The audio can’t be cleared up further. “All will be lost,” says the orb. “Janeway. Do not enter the anomaly.” Janeway then denies plans to enter the wormhole. She asks where the orb is calling from. The orb disappears. But that’s when the grate that Dal is on collapses and he falls through to the bridge. Dal blames his presence on maintenance and then Tysess throws Dal off the bridge. But before he’s tossed out, Dal says he’ll meet Janeway in Shuttlebay 3. Soon, The Doctor approaches our heroes and says Janeway wants to see them.![]()

Back on Solum, Gwyn has evaded the guards. But soon her glowing face activates. She says it can’t be. However, the glow persists. She enters an observatory and finds her father, Ilthuran. She introduces herself as his future daughter.
On Voyager, Janeway confronts our heroes in the observation lounge. She demands to know what they know about Shuttlebay 3 and Dal cites the cloaked ship. Janeway recounts that an isolinear chip from the USS Protostar was found after its explosion. This chip contained classified security footage of Chakotay on Solum in the future. She then says how he witnessed the Vau N’Akat’s creation of the Living Construct to corrupt the Protostar. However, Chakotay’s first officer subsequently fell in battle. Chakotay chose to send the uncrewed Protostar back through the wormhole to an unspecified point in the past. He recorded a personal message for Janeway before he did so. This act is how our young heroes were able to find it on Tars Lamora. The young crew realizes Chakotay saved them, and now they must save Chakotay.
Janeway explains that the wormhole opens on a fixed point 52 years in the future and the two time frames are synched. Therefore an hour passing in one time frame means an hour passes in the other one. Before they do anything, the Voyager crew must wait 41 hours until Chakotay sends the Protostar back through the wormhole. Because, if they don’t, the Protostar won’t be there for the crew to find on Tars Lamora. Rok recognizes it as a classic temporal paradox. Janeway explains this is why they built the Infinity. It has cloaking to help preserve history and temporal shielding to “resist time paradoxes”. However, Janeway admits that Starfleet believes they have pulled the plug on the mission. So, she asks the young crew to keep the continuing mission a secret.
On Solum, Gwyn catches up with Ilthuran. She briefly explains the events of the recent past to him. Ilthuran asks for proof. Gwyn proves she is who she says by proving she also carries the same heirloom because in the future, Ilthuran bequeathed this to his “progeny.” Ilthuran promises to help Gwyn however possible. But he says he’s just an astronomer on a planet that doesn’t care about the stars. Gwyn says there are worlds among the stars, and he could visit them, as The Diviner had in the past. Soon Gwyn and Ilthuran head to the depository of Solum’s knowledge, hoping to learn how to convince the elders. The Lorekeeper informs them of an ancient Solum ritual, the winner of which is considered “true” Vau N’Akat.
On Voyager, Dal is pleased to be part of a secret mission. But his bragging attracts the attention of Maj’el. She overhears talk of a secret in Shuttlebay 3, which isn’t meant to exist. She contacts the other Nova Squadron members and tells them to meet her in Shuttlebay 3. Maj’el takes the turbolift to Shuttlebay 3. Meanwhile Dal, Zero, Murf and Jankom attempt to beat her there via the Jeffries Tubes. They beat Nova Squad to the shuttlebay. Jankom says they’ll find the ship, too. So Dal suggests moving it. With some effort, he manages to decloak and gain access to the Infinity.
On the bridge, he attempts to figure out how to fly the ship. But Nova Squad enters the ship behind them. Maj’el orders the other Nova Squad members to detain our heroes. Things get more chaotic when Rok arrives. But in the fracas, they accidentally engage “Janeway Wormhole Launch Sequence.” The ship takes off. Maj’el, Zero, Dal and Jankom are still aboard, but everyone else is thrown back into the shuttlebay.
On the bridge, Tysess informs Janeway that someone has gained unauthorized access to Shuttlebay 3. The orb reappears and says, “Janeway, the time is now.” Janeway tells them they aren’t going into the wormhole. But that’s when she sees the Infinity heading in. The subspace anomaly prevents them from using the tractor beam. The Infinity enters the wormhole.-geekgirlauthority.com
