Synopsis
On Solum, Asencia is enraged. Drednok reports the people of Solum are rebelling. They call for peace with the Federation. Asencia says she’ll open myriad wormholes and send the fleet to their Federation targets. While she’s warned about the fabric of subspace, she says those who wish to join the Federation may do so in death. The tower activates and multiple wormholes open. Meanwhile, the fleet rises from Solum’s surface towards the wormholes. The USS Voyager-A flies alongside the USS Protostar near Solum. On the bridge of the Voyager are Kathryn Janeway, Tysess, Chakotay, Counselor Noum, Wesley Crusher, Dal R’el, Gwyn, Rok-Tahk, Jankom Pog, Zero, Murf, Maj’el and Bribble.
Wes is excited about the wormholes. Jankom asks why he’s happy about the annihilation of the Federation. But Wes is excited Asencia has delivered the wormhole they need to close the Protostar time loop. Rok agrees: they can stabilize one of the wormholes to create a time tunnel for the Protostar. But if they don’t find the needle in the haystack necessary to accomplish this, the fabric of the universe will unravel. Janeway orders Chakotay to take the Protostar crew back to that ship to ensure it is exactly as it was when our heroes discovered it, thus avoiding any change to history. Meanwhile, Zero, Maj’el, Rok, Bribble and Wes will work on determining how to make the wormhole element work. To open the wormhole, the data will need to be entered manually at the top of Asencia’s research spire.
Gwyn, Dal, Murf, Jankom and Ilthuran will form an away team to go down to Solum. Janeway emphasizes that no Starfleet vessel will come to back them up. Voyager is the last and only defense. Janeway orders Tysess to take them in. Hologram Janeway is snippy with Chakotay. The away team beams down. Meanwhile, Wes leads his team in determining how to make a wormhole to the past. A slight miscalculation could cause the unresolved time loop to tear reality apart. Zero suggests the answer is in the data.![]()

Meanwhile, Solum’s fleet begins entering the wormholes Asencia opened. One of these is above Earth. But Voyager arrives and begins firing on the ships before they can leave. However, they don’t have enough quantum torpedoes to completely stymie the attack. The Vau Na’kat ships return fire. The main entrance to Asencia’s research spire is blocked, but Gwyn knows another way in. Meanwhile, Wes’s team recounts the Protostar’s temporal journey in an attempt to find the solution. On Solum, the away team realizes they’ll only reach the control panel by climbing. When Drednoks appear, Ilthuran says he’ll hold them back while the others reach the panel. On the Protostar, Hologram Janeway admits she’s snippy because she’s realized she’s about to be erased so the Protostar can be sent back in time. But Chakotay promises they’ll find a way to save her.
Wes’s team continues to work the wormhole problem by reviewing the Protostar’s temporal journey. They realize the common thread between all the wormholes is the Protostar. But Rok suggests they could make the wormhole themselves. She further suggests that they may have always been responsible for sending the Protostar back to Tars Lamora in the first place. Wes’s team doesn’t even need to determine the exact coordinates the Protostar will arrive at because it’s all part of the same “path.” The team determines how to send the Protostar through the wormhole.
Elsewhere, Jankom, Gwyn, Murf and Dal arrive at the top of their climb. But they’re met by Asencia and Drednok. Their phaser fire destroys the input console. They can still put in the coordinates, but they’ll have to climb up the antenna in order to do so. Gwyn faces off with Asencia while Drednok is sicced on Dal, Jankom and Murf. Asencia mocks Gwyn as they battle. Meanwhile, Jankom is adjusting the aperture and direction (“temporal variance: 47 mili-Cochranes”). Zero reports time is running out. However, Jankom gets everything input in time. However, a loose connection causes a cable to break free. Jankom says it’s necessary for their goal. Murf will battle Drednok while Dal climbs to fix the cable. Meanwhile, Asencia and Gwyn battle. Murf manages to knock out Drednok off. Dal almost loses his grip mid-climb.
Drednok reappears and knocks Murf aside. Then Drednok prepares to shoot Dal. But Murf is able to knock him back instead. There’s a tense moment, but Murf emerges from the altercation unharmed. Asencia grows increasingly angry at Gwyn. They both have fallen all the way to the ground. But Asencia still has both heirlooms. Asencia says her Solum was and always will be destroyed. Meanwhile, Dal has nearly reached the loose cable. Asencia says she will therefore fight until Solum bends to her will. While Asencia has nearly defeated Gwyn, Gwyn sees Dal’s silhouette nearly completing the cable reconnection. But an ensuing energy burst causes Dal to fall. Thankfully, Murf is able to catch him.
The wormholes close, many destroying the Vau’Nakat ships entering them in the process. Asencia, still holding her heirloom to Gwyn’s throat, is appalled. Other Vau’Nakat arrive on the scene and see the battle. They lend their power to Gwyn. Asencia calls them traitors. But with all their power consolidated, Gwyn is able to take control of the heirlooms. Asencia screams and collapses. Jankom and Murf take in the wormhole, while Dal takes in Gwyn. Janeway tells Chakotay and Hologram Janeway they’re sending the Protostar back where it belongs. Chakotay says they’re not finished yet. They pick up a subspace message from the wormhole. It is the sound of the Loom. Wes protests that they had time. But the Loom are already here.-geekgirlauthority.com
