McCoy
Author(s): John Peel
Book Series: Files Magazine Books
Book Number: Copyright: ©1987
Condition: Mint
Printing: 1st
ISBN: N/A
--Summary--Virtually the entire Star Trek series centered on a relationship between three members of the crew, the captain, James Kirk, the center of logic and science officer, Spoc, and the master of humanism and physician, Leonard "Bones" McCoy.
Kirk, the central character of the series, existed as a balance of the two extremes represented by his chief advisors.
McCoy was one of the three most important individuals on the starship Enterprise. He often provided the solution to a dilemma that no-one else could solve and his heroism, integrity and intelligence were crucial to the survival of the crew. His humor often tempered a grim situation.
DeForest Kelley was the most experienced actor among the regular cast, having played in a series of movies. In fact, when the Enteprise crew confronted the gunfight at the OK Corral, he had already been there before, along with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas.
This volume details the career of both the doctor and the actor. TV expert historial John Peel reveals the importance of the character and the ways in which the actor added to the success of the now-legendary series.

Scotty
Author(s): John Peel
Book Series: Files Magazine Books
Book Number: Copyright: ©1987
Condition: Very Good
Printing: 1st
ISBN: N/A
--Summary--Star Trek was largely based on the triangle between the Captain, the Doctor and the Science Officer. Kirk balanced the humanity and the wisdom to create a dynamo of action.
To many, though, the most interesting character on the series was the Engineer, Montgomery Scott, so ably played by James Doohan. It was Scott who combined the wisdom of the past with the science of the future. This then is the story of the Engineer and his ship!

Star Trek: Reflections of the 60's
Author(s): John Peel
Book Series: Files Magazine Books
Book Number: Copyright: ©1988
Condition: Mint
Printing: 1st
ISBN: N/A
--Summary--"How a television series both reflected and changed an era"
Star Trek is a looking glass into our past, it tells who we were, what we dreamed and how far we have come in reaching those dreams…
In Star Trek: Reflections of the 60's John Peel examines both the influence of the classic television series on its many fans and the influence of the events of the decade and how they changed the show. It demonstrates how the series dealt with or failed to come to terms with the youth rebellion, feminism, racism, war and the dream of a better future, both on Earth and in the stars where no show had gone before.

--Summary--Star Trek was a unique show beloved by millions, the inspiration for conventions, fan magazines, books and, finally, a series of movies. It is in deed a hard act to follow. THE NEXT GENERATION was confronted with this seemingly impossible task. If it followed too close to the original, it would offend the fans. And yet, if it diverged too far, it would also antagonize its potential audience. This is the story of how well the attempt succeeded.
Author John Peel offers a complete guide to every episode, a profile of all the characters and biographies of the cast. There is even a prescription for how to improve the series and an evaluation of each major series character.
Told in two volumes, this is the complete story of THE NEXT GENERATION!

--Summary--If one factor raised the quality of Star Trek beyond that of its contemporaries, it was the magical chemistry of the crew, the way they worked together, played together, and argued together. It brought a special sparkle to the screen. We fell in love with the commanding Kirk, the feisty Southern doctor and the logical Vulcan. The story of each character and the actors and actresses that portray them is the story of Star Trek.
Notes: Autographed by James "Scotty" Doohan (11-13-1988)
