Comments: I just got home about an hour and a half ago from seeing Rush in Nashville on the Time Machine Tour. I haven't seen them since the Test For Echo tour in '97. This was my 3rd time seeing them, the first time being on the Roll The Bones tour in Atlanta. I wish they had played all night long. Rush is by far my all-time favorite band and tonight definitely proved why. They played the standards like The Spirit of Radio, Freewill, La Villa Strangiato (awesome!) and Subdivisions. Even though I had already seen the setlist from the first leg, I had forgotten several songs. I was hoping they had changed a couple of songs, but it was the same. Time Stand Still and Presto brought back memories of a simpler time when I was in high school. Marathon was spectacular. I had never seen them play that. They also played the two new tracks BU2B and Caravan. There's all that plus Moving Pictures in its entirety. Of course they're gonna play Tom Sawyer, Limelight, YYZ, and probably Red Barchetta on any given tour since 1980, but you probably won't see them play The Camera Eye, Witch Hunt, and Vital Signs very often. Witch Hunt blew me away. They played the obligatory 2112 Overture and Temples of Syrinx and I don't think I've ever heard it sound so good. Alex's solo in the overture is perhaps his best solo ever and he nailed it in Nashville. Throw in Stick It Out & Leave That Thing Alone from Counterparts, and Workin' Them Angels, Faithless, & Far Cry off from Snakes & Arrows and that's pretty much the whole show. I feel like I'm leaving something out. What could it be? Oh yeah, Neil's solo! Ya know, he's a pretty good drummer. With a little practice he's gonna be just fine. haha... After the drum solo, Alex came out with a 12-string acoustic and played some very cool mellow stuff that led into Closer to the Heart. That was a pleasant surprise. Last but not least was Working Man. They started it out in a reggae feel which shows Rush's musical diversity. After playing a couple of verses reggae style, they rocked it like it's supposed to be rocked. I came out of that arena on cloud nine. The only bad thing I could think of was how long it took me to see them again. I can't wait for the new record, Clockwork Angels. You can bet I'll be seeing them on that tour.
