Rush is one of rock's most influential bands. FROM THE DIRECTORS:
Growing up in Toronto, Rush was a major part of my upbringing. They played my sister's high school, my older brother had their logo stenciled on his bedroom door and while I was reading Narnia books I could hear Fly By Night being played on the living room stereo.
The bulk of rock 'n' roll mythology is built on stories from London and New York and I felt that it was time to explore a story that was closer to home. I wanted to add a chapter to rock history that is uniquely Canadian. After all Rush is Canada's biggest rock band and after 40 years - love them or not- you have to respect them.
- Scot McFadyen
Rush's music has always been a huge part of my life. As a teenage musician growing up in Victoria, BC, I sat in my bedroom for hours slaving over Geddy Lee's bass lines and obsessing over the lyrics on Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres. They were like no other band.
But as a documentary filmmaker, I've realized that Rush's impact is global. Rock and heavy metal fans around the world admire Rush for their artistic integrity and dedication to their craft. I discovered that they are one of Canada's great ambassadors and deserved a film all their own.
