The Test for Echo Tour marked a monumental structural shift for Rush, establishing their legendary "An Evening with..." format, eliminating opening acts entirely in favor of two sprawling sets divided by an intermission. Opening once again with the "Also Sprach Zarathustra" video, the first set balanced heavy new tracks like "Driven" and the instrumental "Limbo" with classic mainstays, ultimately culminating in a historic, first-ever complete live performance of the entire "2112" suite. Following the break, the second set launched with the new title track and leaned into complex 90s material alongside returning 70s epics like "Natural Science." Taking full advantage of the expanded runtime, the band continued their increasingly common rotational approach to the set list, easily swapping out tracks and shifting the placement of several songs between nights and tour legs. After Neil Peart's "The Rhythm Method" solo and the reliable anchor of "Tom Sawyer," the marathon shows concluded with an encore of "YYZ" capped by their now-customary "Cygnus X-1" teaser.
