The strategy of beta-testing new material on the road continued with the Fall 1980 Tour, giving fans an exclusive first listen to pre-release versions of future megahits "Tom Sawyer" and "Limelight." By the time the official Moving Pictures Tour launched, the set list had undergone a massive overhaul to accommodate the bulk of their watershed album. Standouts like "Red Barchetta," "Vital Signs," and the sprawling "The Camera Eye" took center stage, while the instrumental "YYZ" became the new home for Neil Peart's legendary drum solo. The band also introduced the acoustic guitar piece "Broon's Bane" as an atmospheric prelude to "The Trees." To make room for this modern material, Rush ruthlessly dismantled their 70s epics to create a highly segmented, career-spanning closing medley, seamlessly weaving "Working Man" and "By-Tor & the Snow Dog" with fragments of "Cygnus X-1" and "In The End," before using "2112: Grand Finale" as the explosive climax.
