Star Trek Blueprints: Dollond Class MK-VIC Heavy Transport

Historical Notes

The Dolland Class transport was instrumental in testing engineering modifications that would be used in later ship classes, such as Enterprise, Miranda, and Lagrange.

Following from the design lineage of the Conventry Class Frigate, the Dolland Class sports the vertical warp pylon arragement unique to this line. In order to facilitate docking with upcoming container designs, the warp nacelles were moved transversely to allow clearance as well as uniform subspace field dissipation.

The bridge design was a departure from traditional sensibilities, incorporating improved ergonomics and imaging technology. However, further revisions were needed to maximize workspace efficiency. Examples of these revisions are seen in the Enterprise and Miranda classes.
