The preliminary album page for Snakes & Arrows, with initial artwork, has been created. I took the liberty of assuming Snakes & Arrows will hit #1 on the billboard charts ;-) as well as go quintuple-platinum by day two. I will be afforded a copy of S&A a day or two before the national release, so I plan on having the page completely updated with liner notes, lyrics and all of the images by May 1st.

-John

Dateline: February 18th, 2006
Now that the release date of Snakes & Arrows is official at May 1st, I've begun to prepare the site for its arrival. Album, lyric and image database pages have been set up, while areas for tour dates (official only) and set lists are laying in wait for the tour to begin. For now, I worked up an album cover that'll be used as a proxy until the real Snakes & Arrows cover is revealed.

Please feel free to share tour date information and set lists from the 2007 Snakes & Arrows tour. Help from all of you is what makes this site as complete as possible. Thanks.

Dateline: September 16th, 2006
Well, as Summer 2006 draws to a close and word of a new Rush album possibly being released next Spring, I thought it was high-time I made some major changes to the site. So, as of now, work has begun on a completely new look and feel to Cygnus-X1. Worry not; all the same content and images that Cygnus-X1.Net has become famous for will remain, but the interface will be far more 'Rush like'. So, stay tuned for the all new Cygnus-X1.Net -- making its debut soon.

-John

Dateline: June 9th, 2006
Cygnus-X1 gets interactive. I've begun to add comment fields to all of the pages. At this point, every album page contains a link where you can post your own comments about that specific album. A login is not required and comments are not verified before appearing online. I hope you take advantage of this feature to share your thoughts about your favorite (or least favorite) album by Rush. Comment fields will be added to other pages in the near future. Enjoy.

-John

Dateline: June 1st, 2006
Cygnus-X1.Net has now turned 2 years old! Since launching on June 1st, 2004, the site has received over 325,000 visitors, displayed nearly 1.7 million pages and has transferred well over a terabyte (1000 gigs) of data. Thanks to all of you Rush fans out there for helping to make this site a success.

Look for more scans from Neil's two DVD packages to grace the site soon, followed by images and details from Rush Replay X 3.

Enjoy the summer, all.

-John

Dateline: February 26th, 2006
The Piano Tribute to Rush pages have finally been added - both the Album and the Image Database pages are available with a review of the album coming 'soon'.

I also posted an original, very short "story" detailing my decade-long quest to obtain a copy of the nearly impossible to come by 2112 Tour Book. Read my escapes by clicking HERE or by going to the Rush 2112 Tour Book section of the site.

That's it for now. Thanks, as always, for stopping by my little electronic corner of Rush...

-John

Dateline: February 16th, 2006
The Cygnus-X1.Net Rush Store has been updated with Videos and Books. I'll be adding some additional Rush-related items, as well as more books soon. I'm still waiting for my copy of the Piano Tribute to Rush CD so I can get the images online. I should have it within the week and online shortly thereafter. Once that's done, I plan to break out my "pen" and write up some reviews on the latest tribute albums, the R30 DVD and a few other items which warrant my attention. Thanks, as always, for visiting.

-John

Dateline: January 4th, 2006
Happy 2006 Everyone! This looks to be a good year for Rush fans as a potential new studio album followed by a tour are all but a certainty. New to the site is The Rush Store. Over time, I'll be adding all sorts of Rush products to the store; items like all the CD's, DVD's, Books and more. Clicking and purchasing an item through the store, which re-directs you to Amazon.Com, will help support Cygnus-X1.Net. So, thanks in advance for your support. Enjoy 2006!

-John

Dateline: November 29th, 2005
With the release of R30 comes the scanning of the images and the introduction of the DVD/CD information. Accordingly, all of the images are now up on the Image Database section, and the CD has been added to the Discography. Work on the 'Rush Store' is nearly complete so look for that in the next couple of weeks. Enjoy the holidays, all.

-John

Dateline: October 20th, 2005
Other than furious updates on Rush news, little has been added to the site recently, though I have been slowly converting it to PHP from html to allow for some future flexibility (or so I'm told).

Of course, once the R30 DVD/CD is released, I'll be scanning all of the images/discs as usual and posting them online just as soon as possible. And, with the release of the Tour Book Compilation in early 2006, I may go back and re-scan images from the earlier tour books that, due to their age, didn't fair well towards 21st scanning technology (despite my attempts to edit them).

So, there are many changes in the Rush world, and changes to the site are coming.

Cheers,
-John

Dateline: September 25th, 2005
The 2006 Rush Wall Calendar has been added to the Image Database. If you like the scans, then you should buy the calendar over at the Rush Backstage Club for only $12.99. What are you waiting for? Enjoy...

Has it really been two months since I've updated the Rush Tribute site? Well, not really. I'm continually added news feeds to the "Latest Rush News" section of course, and the Rush message forum has been seeing some decent activity of late, but otherwise little has changed on the main site. It's been a busy summer :) But I plan on adding something new to the site soon ... Something radical. Something extraordinary. Now I just have to think about what that is :) Seriously, look for some new content soon.

-John

Dateline: June 18th, 2005
Well, it's been a month since I've made any major changes to the site. Heck, it is summer after all :) The latest changes include the addition of the Massey Hall Concert Program that was handed out during three shows in June of 1977. Those shows would be recorded live for "All the World's A Stage". The concert program can be found in the image database under "Other Tour Books". Also new to the image database is the Rush-inspired Comic book "The Defenders: Divided We Duel!" which was very loosely based on 2112 and dedicated to Rush. Coming up next will be the re-scanning of the Atlantic albums (yep, still haven't done that) as well as the addition of sampled song-bits corresponding with the page you're viewing (e.g. Limelight will play when viewing a page that concerns "Moving Pictures", etc.)

That's all for now. Enjoy the summer!

-John

Dateline: May 17th, 2005
Wow. I finally completed scanning in the entire R30 (Feedback / 30th Anniversary) Tourbook. Over 225 images in all! Phew! I'm glad THAT's over. I hope you enjoy the images as it is truly one of the nicest tourbooks from any band that I've ever come across. With all the tourbook images now online, I'll be going back to the re-scanning of the Atlantic albums (which need some work). I also have another Rush comic book (The Defenders) to scan in, so look for that shortly.

Special thanks have to go out to my "editor" Nathanael Peace who picked off some typos on the site. If there's a typo on the site, Nate will find it.

That's all for now. Thanks, as always, for stopping by.

-John

Dateline: May 3rd, 2005
Just completed the Vapor Trails Tour Book images...all 96 of them. That was fun :0) Only *1* more tour book to scan in - and it is, of course, the largest one yet: The R30 Tour Book. Over 200 images from what I've seen. This baby will be well worth the wait for those of you who haven't seen it yet. I also have another comic book to scan - the original "Defenders" comic book that was dedicated to Rush and loosely based on 2112 and "Anthem" by Ayn Rand.

Once those two items are done, I'll return to cleaning up the rest of the album images - many of which desperately need an overhaul. Thanks for stopping by...

-John

Dateline: April 13th, 2005
I'm taking a break from tour book scanning (I only have Vapor Trails and R30 to scan to complete the online collection) to focus on another rare find I recently came across - Rush comic books. Now, most fans are aware of the 30-page comic book centered around Rush from their early days up through Counterparts. And I've heard, but haven't seen, of several comic books that use 2112 as a backdrop. But what I just picked up relates to the Cygnus-X1 Books I and II stories. I stumbled across these in an Ebay auction, and haven't found mention of them anywhere else. So, check out the Image Database where you'll see reproductions of all Rush Comic books very soon. As of this writing, the main Rush comic is now online. As always, enjoy...

-John

Dateline: April 5th, 2005
I'm proud to announce another exclusive item for the site - two British-only tour books known as "Rush: The Words and the Pictures - Volumes I and II". These tour books were produced and distributed in the U.K. during the Hemispheres and Permanent Waves tours. Check them out by accessing the Image Database or by viewing the tour books from Hemispheres or Permanent Waves. Or, heck, by clicking either of these links: Volume I or Volume II. Both of these books are being reproduced in full for the first time, anywhere.

As always, enjoy.

-John

Dateline: April 1st, 2005
Well, I decided to scrap the entire Rush theme of this site and focus my attention on an ABBA tribute site. After all, they make better music than those three Canadians. Ahem. Hey, it is April 1st you know. ANYway, Tour Book images through "Roll The Bones" are now online. Work on the remaining four tour books is underway and should be completed within a week or so.
Enjoy.

-John

Dateline: March 25th, 2005
Finally added album and images from the latest tribute album Subdivisions: A Tribute to Rush. I'm still taking in this album, so I don't have an official review yet, but I hope to have one online within a week or so. I love the Hugh Syme images on this album, so make sure to check out the images HERE. Enjoy.

-John

Dateline: March 22nd, 2005
I took a break from the tour books section to complete the Concert Set Lists area. Accessing the set lists is available from the main Tour Information page, or from any tour dates listing or tour book. Special thanks to Power Windows for filling in some of the set list gaps that I had. Enjoy.

Work on the tour books images continues with Power Windows now online and Permanent Waves to follow shortly. And another first for any Rush site is the full reproduction of the British-only tour book released during the Hemispheres tour called The Words and The Pictures - Volume 1. Loaded with rare photos of the band plus Neil's original hand-written lyrics from many of the earlier albums, this is a definite treat for all Rush fans. Look for Volume II to be presented in the near future as well.

Enjoy!

For the first time online - anywhere - is the presentation of the Rush 2112 Tour Book. Transcriptions have existed elsewhere, but you'll only find the complete transcriptions and images on this site. Work on the remaining Tour Books is continuing, as is the work on the Rush Calendars. Yes, my work is never done. Enjoy!

Work has now begun on the Tour Books section. While the text for each tour book is available, I'm now in the process of scanning all of the internal images, adding those to the Image Database section of the site (also accessible from each tour book). At this time, the "A Farewell to Kings" and "Hemispheres" Tour Books are complete. Work on the "2112" tour book will begin as soon as my copy arrives (got lucky and found one for sale online). Shortly thereafter, I'll begin scanning the images from the remaining tour books and Rush Calendars as well.

Hope you're enjoying the continual changes to the site. Please drop me a line and let me know what you think. Thanks.

The Discography section is (finally) complete. All information on every studio, live, compilation, tribute and solo album is now available (with the exception of the tribute album "Subdivisions" which, as of this writing, hasn't been released yet. Full images on each album are also available through the Image Database section.

Next up, I'll be working on bringing you complete Tour Book transcripts and images as well as Tour Set List information. I'm also working on scanning both the 2004 and 2005 calendars for inclusion in the Image Datavase section.

That's about it for now - enjoy.

The new Sphere-GUI interface is now online. A little more "style" to add to the "substance" of this site. I hope you enjoy it.

As you may have noticed, I've been working feverishly on the Discography section. It's nearly complete, save for the last two tribute albums which haven't been released and the two solo projects. I also expanded the biography section to include complete reproductions of "Rush", "Success Under Pressure" and "Visions."

That's it for now. More to come shortly - especially a huge addition to the Image Database. Thanks, as always, for visiting.

Over the past 10 days, I've been putting the finishing touches on the Discography page which, in turn, feeds the Image dB, Review and Lyric pages. My plan is to finish up the Discography page, which would include updating the live albums, compilation albums and all of the tribute albums before moving to the next big piece of this site - the rest of the Image dB. I plan on grabbing images from the various books that have been published about Rush, the two annual calendars and more. And speaking of books, you'll notice that I've put "Visions" online; the official Rush biography from the "Hold Your Fire" era. Look for other biographies to be available on this site soon.

Thanks, as always, for visiting. Please don't forget to check out the message forums. We're trying to build up some activity in them, so check them out!

With the new year, the first big piece of this tribute site has been completed - The Rush Lyric Randomizer. As I develop more pages for this site, I'll be including the randomizer code on most of the main pages. The premise of this feature is pretty straight forward. Each time you visit or reload a page, you'll be treated to a random Rush lyric. There are currently 146 different lyrics available - at least one from every Rush song, with more on the way.

Now that the Randomizer is done, I'll be focusing my attention on completing the discography database. Look for it to include not only detailed information on every album, but hundreds of images from each, lyrics, related tour dates and more.

And please don't forget to check out and join our new message forums. With topics on every phase of Rush's career along with where they are headed, I'm sure everyone will find (and post) something of interest.

Thanks for visiting and stop back soon for more exciting changes...

I've now begun work on developing a complete tribute site to Rush. After launching 'Cygnus-X1.Net' in June of 2004, most of the time spent on the site was dedicated to the Star Trek LCARS Book & Episode Database. But now that the Star Trek project is essentially complete, it's time for me to focus on the Rush content of this site.

What I plan to house in this tribute section will hopefully be unique. It'll include the following:

* A complete album listing with cover, back-side and internal images from the CD releases.
* A complete list of all song lyrics.
* Detailed reviews of every album, video, movie and book related to Rush.
* A random lyric generator. (You'll see...)
* And more...

I'll also be revamping the online BBS / Forums to include more Rush content in hopes of spurring some activity. For now, I'll getting all of the data together, starting the initial coding, and pulling my hair out as is often the case when I start a new project.

Check back often - I'll be adding content to this section as I complete them.

Thanks for stopping by...
